Naurette + Dewald | Gracefield Barn Heidelberg

I have been doing a bit of travelling the last few weeks – weddings all over the countryside…which I love, you get to see parts of the country you would never otherwise visit. And there is a gem in Heidelberg (or the next town, which name escapes me now). Gracefield Barn is a wonderful venue, with loads of atmosphere and gorgeous scenery, wide open spaces and big skies (and you know I love those 😉

I so enjoyed this wedding – two lovely young people completely besotted with each other, quirky, vintage decor, an old car and lots of family and friends celebrating…it was a good day 🙂

Thanks to my second on the day, Corinna

Lelanie + Hardus | Platvlei Farm, Lichtenburg

We are on our way to Durban in a hour or so, doing a wedding for a very good friend of ours in some small dorpie on the North Coast…and as it will be when you know that you have loads to do, still pack, and drive 8 hours, I had very little sleep. So, I am trying to find the words to describe Lelanie and Hardus’ wedding, but my brain is on go slow….

I completely adore farm weddings, they have an ambience and character so unique and special. Combine that with Lelanie’s vision and creative flair, it makes for a wedding that blew me away…the decor, the hospitality, the down to earth easiness of the whole day… I can tell you how beautiful she looked, how we made a total of 21 U-turns during the day trying to find all the spots we picked to do photo’s or about the bakkie with a bachelor party and blow-up doll on the back as we made our way to the reception. But I am going to let the images speak for themselves and go have another cup of coffee 😉

Lelanie and Hardus, thank you, thank you for letting us share in your wonderful day – it truly was so very special.

Hendrien + Cliffe | Lady Gray

As it is, I have issues with cutting down my images for the blog…now add in a gorgeous bride, handsome groom, a little town in the platteland, a seriously amazing farm wedding and a township – image overload basically guaranteed! 🙂

Andrea and I hit the road on a Friday morning, leaving behind Joburg and driving through the boring flatness (except for the occasional sunflower patch) to Bloemfontein…from there we went inland and the landscape slowly changed – rolling hills, green fields, kosmos, skies that stretched on and on. We made it to Lady gray in one piece (although I might have taken out one of Andrea’s tyres with a pothole – its undecided who’s fault that may be 😉 and checked into our hotel…by this time its dark and we couldn’t see much of the town, only to wake up the next morning to a beautful, quaint dorpie, nestled in a valley surrounded by mountains. Heaven!!!

Excitement kicks in as there is nothing better than photographing a wedding in beautiful natural surroundings and we go exploring. On the way to the farm where Hendrien and Cliffe will be having the reception, we pass through the little township…out come the cameras and the little kids’ excited faces make this day even better 🙂

At the farm, the working barn has been cleared out of livestock, hay, equipment etc and turned into a reception venue – all the goodies came from Joburg and it looked simply amazing – funky, stylish with loads of personal touches. The food were being prepared by tannies in town, as everyone there knows Hendrien…the fact that she is a TV sports presenter, marrying one of our cricket players probably made this day even more special for everyone. Talk about royalty 🙂 And what beautiful people they are…relaxed, game for anything and so very much in love. Cliffe looks at her and you just want to hug him for loving her that much…and she looks at him and cannot help but smile – now there is something special right there.

So get comfortable, get a cup of cofee or a glass of wine and join us in Lady Gray for a bit…
