As you walk into the Cathedral, the light and colours strike you first…then the calm peacefulness of this beautiful space in the heart of Jozi overwhelms you. It really makes for a wedding ceremony with meaning. And it was the perfect setting for Tracy and Richard’s ceremony, creating a feeling of intimacy, even in the huge space. A choir, the amazing organ, all of it reminds you that there is more to a wedding than the decor, the politics, the planning.
It was a perfect Autumn day in Johannesburg as we rushed around the city centre in a little bus, looking for pretty light. I like to plan my couple shoots so that I know where we are going and to save time, but there is something to be said (besides the stress) for unplanned chaos 🙂 – it pushes you to really look and to try different things, technically and creatively. We ran out of light pretty quickly but we made the most of the time we had. We got chased away by security guards, several fingers got slammed into doors in the rush to get to that spot … but what fun!
The reception was held at Randlords, overlooking the city skyline – emotional speeches, a song dedication by the groom, a phenomenal 5 course menu…it all contributed to this beautiful wedding.
Tracy and Richard, may all the days of your married life be as wonderful as this first one.
Thank you to my friend Corinna for assisting me and being my always reliable back-up.
I have recently made a change in my editing process for weddings, so blogposts are a bit behind…but finally, here is Mandla and Siya’s wedding 🙂
Surrounded by family and friends that flew in from all over the world, these two tied the knot in Randjiesfontein…and what I love about them most is their unaffectedness (is that a word?). Even though they come from powerful and important backgrounds, had celebrities and government officials at their wedding, they are just them. Two people who love each other and are completely just themselves at all times. I love that 🙂
And the joy – so much joy and happiness, laughter and tears…everyone there celebrated with abandon, just the way a wedding should be!
This is part one of an epic wedding – day 2 is the traditional part and will follow on Friday…
Mandla and Siya – I loved shooting your wedding, you are two of the most beautiful people I’ve ever met xxx
Thanks again to my second on the day, Corinna.
December, January and February was a blur – the studio was crazy busy and weddings had to be edited…and inbetween time just slipped away and I never got to post some of the weddings that I assisted on – I love second shooting weddings! It is all the emotion and adrenalin without the stress 🙂 You can play and try new things and just soak up all the happiness…so without further ado – Jutine and Karel’s urban wedding rocked!!!
Lorraine and Roberto fit. Happily.
They are filled with love and joy and laughter, and it rubs off on everyone around them. They should have neon warning signs above their heads to warn people not to get to close in case it rubs off and you can’t get rid of it 🙂 And for me, that’s what stood out at this wedding the most, their infectious laughter and joy in each other, life and the people around them. It was wonderful thing to be a part of for a day. And the party rocked!!! 😉
I thank you both for a fun-filled wedding and a chance to get grubby with joy!
I have to give a shout out to the venue – Da Vincenzo did an amazing job, the food and service was spectacular. Thank you Miclele for an awesome experience!
