Andrea and I hit the road on a Friday morning, leaving behind Joburg and driving through the boring flatness (except for the occasional sunflower patch) to Bloemfontein…from there we went inland and the landscape slowly changed – rolling hills, green fields, kosmos, skies that stretched on and on. We made it to Lady gray in one piece (although I might have taken out one of Andrea’s tyres with a pothole – its undecided who’s fault that may be 😉 and checked into our hotel…by this time its dark and we couldn’t see much of the town, only to wake up the next morning to a beautful, quaint dorpie, nestled in a valley surrounded by mountains. Heaven!!!
Excitement kicks in as there is nothing better than photographing a wedding in beautiful natural surroundings and we go exploring. On the way to the farm where Hendrien and Cliffe will be having the reception, we pass through the little township…out come the cameras and the little kids’ excited faces make this day even better 🙂
At the farm, the working barn has been cleared out of livestock, hay, equipment etc and turned into a reception venue – all the goodies came from Joburg and it looked simply amazing – funky, stylish with loads of personal touches. The food were being prepared by tannies in town, as everyone there knows Hendrien…the fact that she is a TV sports presenter, marrying one of our cricket players probably made this day even more special for everyone. Talk about royalty 🙂 And what beautiful people they are…relaxed, game for anything and so very much in love. Cliffe looks at her and you just want to hug him for loving her that much…and she looks at him and cannot help but smile – now there is something special right there.
So get comfortable, get a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and join us in Lady Gray for a bit…
